Weekend preview – 25th/26th July
The 1st XI host Heriot’s at Grange Loan in the latest round of EPL action. Chris McBride is injured and Rudy Adair is away but the Arrows welcome back Shiv Jhala and Ben Stronach into the starting 11. Angus Guy & Pete Gill are likely to feature at the top of the order as the home side will look to take advantage of fast scoring conditions at Grange Loan.
The 2nd XI travel to Fife to take on Dunnikier at Dunnikier Park. Tom Pedley is back in having recovered from injury and Hamish Foley is also available again to bolster the seam bowling attack. Director of Cricket Stevie Gilmour is also back in action and skipper Gav Murray is also able to call on Felix Lisher & Shreyas Tekale who both took 5-fors last week. Tom Hathorn is also available again and will join fellow Scotland U16s Lisher & Foley in the Arrows lineup.
Also on Saturday the 3rd XI travel to North Berwick to play Bass Rock at Recreation Park. Captain Brad McKay has recovered from his finger injury and the Arrows also welcome back Anish Amin, Euan Keatinge and Pavan Yaradi. Euan Burgess makes a welcome return to the club and will don the sky blues for the first time since 2018.
The 4th XI are on the road south to St Boswells for their ESCA Division 5 clash. David Simpson drops down after playing 3s last week while Ishant Samanta earns a promotion from the 5s. Tomos Hunt is also available again and will be looking to build on his good form with both bat & ball 2 weeks ago. In the reverse fixture in May Anish Amin hit 155 at Peffermill and the Borderers will be delighted that his name is not on the teamsheet this time out.
The final match on Saturday sees the 5th XI host Drummond Trinity 4s at Fettes 2. Skipper Keith Murray welcomes back Dan Barry into the ranks to play alongside son George. Sebastiano Gupta is set to make his Arrows league debut and there are spots for Sid Vishnu & Mike Kennedy. Martin Robertson will look to keep up his good form with the bat after his 2nd half century of the season last week.
On Sunday the Women’s 1st XI play West of Scotland for the second week in a row. This match is at Hamilton Crescent and is the quarter final of the Women’s T20 Cup. Maisie Maceira is at the helm in the absence of Samantha Evans and will have at her disposal Sonia Amin, Keira Ansell, Abby Caton, Aggie Foley & Lindsay Thompson – the 5 Carlton players announced in the recent Scotland U15s Girls squad.
Also on Sunday the U13s take on Durham City in the Knock Out stages of the ECB U13s Cup. Captain Olly McCallum is leading his troops again in a side that contains 8 players that play regular senior cricket. The young Arrows reached this stage after convincing wins over Hillhead in the semi-final and Aberdeenshire in the final of the Scotland section of the competition.
