Weekend roundup – 5th/6th September

As the 2026 season comes to an end the sun came out to ensure both matches were played in excellent conditions.  First up was the Players versus Parents match where Felix Lisher’s Players took on Rahul Khadse’s Parents.  The Players won the toss and invited the Parents to bat.  The match was 36 overs a side with 6 sets of pairs batting for 6 overs each and being bowled at by their respective relatives.  The Parents finished on 232 for 8 with Dan Barry top scoring on 36 with Vipin Gupta (27); Euan Murray (23) & Neil McCallum (22) the other main contributors.  Arjun Shelke took 3 wickets and there was 1 each for Aaradhy Khadse; Alexander Murray; Ollie McCallum & Lindsay Thompson.  In reply the Players could only muster 193 with Tom Hathorn (39) and Felix Lisher (28) the best performers with the bat.  There were wickets for Iain Hathorn; Ian Thompson; Neil McCallum and Euan Murray but the bowling accolades go to skipper Rahul Khadse for a hattrick.

On Sunday WPL 30 Champions Grange were the visitors to Grange Loan as they looked to finish their season unbeaten against the Women’s 2s.  Captain Sarah Beith won the toss and chose to field first but the visitors got off to a lively start.  Lindsay Thompson got the first wicket in the 5th over with 24 on the board.  Elsie Fraser was next to strike in the 8th over and when Keira Ansell took a wicket in the next over Grange were in a spot of bother at 37 for 3 after 9.  At drinks the score had moved on to 63 for 3  but in the 18th over Libby Wallace broke the partnership to make it 68 for 4.  Another good partnership developed and was eventually broken by Abby Caton in the 25th over but the score was now 117 for 5.  A good last 5 for the Arrows saw 2 wickets for Ansell and 1 for Fraser as the visitors were restricted to 122 for 8 from their 30 overs.  The reply got off to a poor start with both Holly Sladen and Caton out cheaply as the home side slumped to 10 for 2.  Beith & Amelia Beattie steadied the ship and added 70 runs for the 3rd wicket before Beattie was run out for 18.  Sarah Law joined Beith in the middle and the pair took the Arrows to 110 before Beith departed for a captain’s knock of 52.  Law (12*) and Thompson (8*) guided the home side over the line in the 27th over for a fine 6 wicket win and ensured the Women’s 2s finished 2nd in the first ever WPL 30.
