Weekend preview – 29th/30th August
The 1st XI finish their league campaign with a trip to Angus to take on Arbroath United at Lochlands. Daniel Da Costa’s men will be looking to end the season in style after the young guns did so well in last week’s win over Forfarshire. The skipper has recovered from injury and Angus Guy is back available again and come in for Shiv Jhala and Ferg Foley who are not available on Saturday. Tom Hathorn retains his place after his impressive knock of 42 on debut last week.
On Sunday the 1st XI take on the MCC at Grange Loan. The match is 40 overs a side and scheduled to start at 11:30am. Several of the 2nd XI who competed well in the ESCA Championship this season are rewarded with call ups including 2s Captain Gav Murray along with Pete Gill, Max D’Ulisse and Aadi Khadse.
The final game of the weekend sees the Women’s 1st XI take on RHC Lynx at Barnton in the last round of the WPL 40. It is first vs second in the table although Samantha Evan’s side clinched the title 2 weeks ago. Evans can call on the experience of Charis Scott (sponsored by Mitchell Glass), Ikra Farooq & Annette Aitken-Drummond along with the youthful exuberance of Keira Ansell, Aggie Foley, Sonia Amin and Elsie Fraser.
The 1st XI match against the MCC at Grange Loan will be livestreamed on the Carlton CC YouTube Channel.
