The 1st XI entertained city rivals Grange on Saturday afternoon and on winning the toss invited the Stockbridge men to bat first.  Despite taking wickets at regular intervals the visitors made 205 for 9 from their 40 overs.  Ali Evans was the pick of the home bowlers with 3 for 26.  In reply the home side struggled in the face of some accurate bowling.  Murray Whitaker top scored with 30 and there were good lower order contributions from Angus Beattie (20) and Rory Allardice (22*) but Carlton were bowled out 70 runs short in the 38th over.

The Women travelled to Inverleith to take on Edinburgh South/Stewarts Melville.  The young batting line up found runs hard to come by and finished on 66 for 4 from their 25 overs.  Captain Maisie Maceira top scored with 22 not out.  The home side chased the modest total down in the 16th over for the loss of four wickets with Danielle Weller claiming 3 for 13.

Also on Saturday the 3rd XI made the short journey to the Inch to take on Edinburgh South.  Having won the toss skipper Brad McKay opted to bat first.  The first 4 wickets fell for only 38 runs but good partnerships between Mo Nouman (35) and Mikey Brown (50*) and Zaki Yusaf (26) and Brown took the score to 130 in the 31st over.  The innings rather lost its way and the 3s were bowled out for 147 at the end of the 38th over.  Jamie Beattie and skipper McKay produced a miserly opening spell and 4 wickets fell with the score on 12.  The home side never recovered and were eventually bowled out for 111 in the 26th over.  McKay ended with 3 for 11 and there were 2 wickets apiece for Beattie, Charlie Kentish & Nouman.

The final game on Saturday saw the 4th XI travel to Inverleith Park to take on Drummond Trinity 2s.  The home side won the toss and opted to bat first but were soon 3 for 2 as Rudy Adair and Ben Stronach struck early on. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals and DTs were bowled out for 120 in the 32nd over.  Bowling plaudits went to Stu Dawson with 2 for 12 with Stronach also claiming a brace as well as wickets for Dougie Firth, Max D’Ulisse; Joe Ward and Rory Ledingham.  In reply the 4s lost Cam Keatinge early with skipper Paul Kentish (20) falling a few overs later.  D’Ulisse (10) and Mike Kennedy(31) put on 41 for the 3rd wicket but both were out with the score on 74 prompting a collapse which saw the 4s bowled out for 99 with 8 overs to go.

On Sunday the 2nd XI were due to play RHC 2s but they were unable to raise a side.  This saw the 5th XI game scheduled for Inch Park 2 moved to Grange Loan as they entertained Morton 3s.  Skipper Keith Murray won the toss and opted to bat first.  The accurate Morton attack made life difficult for the batters and the 5s struggled to 100 all out in their 40 overs.  Murray with a watchful 24 and Charles Stronach 22.  The visitors were able to score more freely and got past the home total in the 25th over but the two sides played on to make the most of the opportunity of playing at Grange Loan.  In the bye, James Stronach took 4 wickets.  The 5s were also honoured with a cameo appearance by Ali Evans as sub fielder, the only current internationalist to have so far turned out for the Famous Fives!
