Weekend preview – 27th/28th June
The 1st XI welcome Arbroath United to Grange Loan looking to build on last week’s good win away in Broughty Ferry. The Arrows welcome back Tom Pedley who comes in for Charlie Buchannan Smith, while Shreyas Tekale is back in the side after another good performance in the 2s replacing Shiv Jhala. Pete Gill is again at the top of the order in the continued absence of Shovik Chakraborty who will miss out on taking on his former club.
The 2nd XI are on the road, all the way down to Melrose to take on Morton. This will be the first Championship match ever hosted at Huntlyburn with the ground only being approved by the League the week before. Oli Stones, Shaun Smith, Charlie Kentish & Dougie Firth all come into the side as the Arrows will look to avenge an opening day loss to the men from the Meadows.
The 4th XI are away to Stew Mel 3s on the artificial at Inverleith and are missing Sid Narayanaswamy & Chris Sale who both hit 40s last week. David Simpson and Kyle Burgess drop down from the 3s and Aarady Khadse earns a promotion from the 5s as well as Stu Dawson returning after his recent injury woes.
The 5th XI are playing Stew Mel 4s at Peffermill and Euan Murray can again call on Martin Robertson & Sam Gilmour at the top of the order. Vijay Raghavan will take the gloves and there is a welcome return for father & son combo Dan & George Barry. U14 Sid Vishnu is set to make his league debut after impressing in midweek games.
On Sunday the Women’s 2nd XI are in Challenger Cup action against West of Scotland with a 10am start at Grange Loan. Sarah Beith is at the helm and the team features 5 of the U15 Girls team that made history last Sunday as the first Scottish girls side to play in the regional rounds of the ECB U15 Cup. Beith is also able to call on some more experienced players such as Amelia Beattie, Sarah Law & Ashley Robertson.
The final game of the weekend sees the 3rd XI take on Edinburgh CC 2s at Grange Loan. Back for the Arrows are Anish Amin, Euan Keatinge, Calum Robertson, Cam Moore & Finlay Thompson. Also in the side are Hector Murray, Raghuram Parasur & Elliot Peltenburg who all impressed in last week’s disappointing loss away at Drummond Trinity.
