Weekend preview – 20th/21st June

The 1st XI are on the road, taking on Fofarshire and Forthill.   Chris McBride comes back into the side as his injury concerns have eased and the Arrows also welcome back Arun Pillai (sponsored by Umair Mohammed Cosmetic & Sports Dentistry).  Charlie Buchannan Smith makes his second league appearance coming in for Tom Pedley who is away this weekend.  With all these changes Shreyas Tekale drops down to the 2s.

The 2nd XI welcome Edinburgh Accies to Grange Loan looking to bounce back from their second loss of the campaign last week.    Charles Stronach is back to lead the attack and Pete Gill is back from the World Cup at the top of the order.  Isaac Coates makes his second start for the Arrows after impressing with the ball last week and the 2s also welcome back Ben D’Ulisse into the middle order.

The final game on Saturday sees the 5th XI travel to Bailliefields to take on Westquarter & Redding 2s.  Euan Murray is at the reins this week and can call on the services of Martin Robertson as well as Mike Kennedy who is back in action after his travels.  He also has the services of 4 of the U13 side which will compete in the ECB Finals Day in Perth on Sunday.

On Sunday, as well as the U13s in finals day action the Girls U15 side travel south of the border to take on South Northumberland in the ECB Girls U15 Cup.  This will be the first time that girls from Scottish clubs have competed at this level.

Also on Sunday the 3rd XI make the short journey to Inverleith Park to take on Drummond Trinity 2s.  David Simpson is back from holiday and along with Shaun Smith and Charlie Kentish they will look to solidify the 3s batting.  John Gill is also back in the side after missing out last week with a school trip abroad.

The final game of the weekend sees the 4th XI host MDAFs 3s at Grange Loan. In a rare instance of continuity of selection for the 4s, eight of the side that won a nailbiter at the Meadows last week return to action this week.  Daniel Mowat, Ishan Samanta and Kartic Subr are the other players selected.

Both the 2nd XI’s and 4th XI’s fixtures at Grange Loan will be livestreamed on the Carlton CC YouTube Channel.
