Weekend preview – 18th/19th July
The 1st XI are on the road as they travel to Scroggie Park to take on Falkland in round 12 of the EPL. Conor Regan has recovered from injury and Chris McBride also makes a welcome return for the Arrows as they come in for Shiv Jhala & Ben Stronach who are away this week. Shreyas Tekale drops down to the 2s this week with his spot taken by fellow Scotland age group star, James Stronach.
The 2nd XI welcome ESCA Championship basement boys Heriot’s 2s to Grange Loan. Isaac & Fergus Foley are back in action for the 2s along with Stevie Gilmour, refreshed after his family holiday. With Shreyas Tekale in to bolster the spin attack the side has a familiar look to it. Max D’Ulisse will be looking forward to locking horns with the Goldenacre side after taking his best ever figures for the 2s with 5 for 20 in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Also on Saturday the 3rd XI welcome high flying Edinburgh South 2s to Peffermill. Regular skipper Brad McKay dislocated a finger last time out so Cam Moore is at the helm. Taha Khan comes into the side having impressed with the ball in the 4s in recent weeks and there are also spots Atreya Subr and Chris Brennan who are back from their travels. Robbie Murray also returns to the side having also been away last week and will look to add to his recent good form with the bat at Peffermill.
The 4th XI are also at “home” on Saturday as they play at Winchburgh for the first time against Watsonian 3s. Sid Narayanaswamy is back in action along with Kartic Subr and Samantha Evans. Skipper Al Murray and Basil Khan will look to build on another decent opening partnership last time out and Chris Sale is hotfooting it from the airport for the match after family commitments down south.
The final match on Saturday sees the 5th XI travel to the north of the city to take on Leith FAB 4s on the second pitch at the Links. Keith Murray is back in charge and Martin Robertson and Sam Gilmour are also back to hopefully reignite their productive partnership at the top of the order. Vijay Raghavan and Ishan Samanta will offer options with the bat and the young bowling attack will be led by Rohan Kumar Jena.
On Sunday the Women’s 1st XI welcome West of Scotland to Grange Loan in round 10 of the WPL 40. The youngsters that were away on Scotland age group duty last week are available again and Ikra Farooq will be looking to recreate the form from last week which saw her take a hat-trick. Janie Hemsley is a available again to take the gloves and Samantha Evans can once again call on the experience of Annette Aitken-Drummond.
The Women’s 2s are also on duty on Sunday in a WPL 30 fixture away to Lomond Lynx. The Arrows have Elsie Fraser, Saskia Aldridge and Ashley Robertson in their ranks who all played WPL 40 last weekend as they also welcome Krithi Subr back from her travels. Lilli Piper is set to make her WPL debut in this fixture as the Arrows look to consolidate their third spot in the table.
