Weekend preview – 9th/10th May

It’s our first eight fixture weekend of the year and it includes our second round Scottish Cup tie vs Clydesdale.

On Saturday the 1st XI make the short trip to Inch Park where they will meet Edinburgh South.  With Ruari MacPherson concussed and Olly Davidson away on Scotland duty, Tom Pedley and Shreyas Tekale come into the side for their first team debuts. Pedley joined the club this season and has impressed so far for 2s, whilst Tekale was a part of the historic victory for our U15s at Lord’s in 2023.

The 2nd XI make it three home games in a row as they host Drummond Trinity at Grange Loan.  There are four changes to the side this week as the returning Will Hardie, Stevie Gilmour, Dougie Firth and 2nd team debutant Tom Hathorn replace Tekale, Pedley, Aadi Khadse and Pavan Yaradi.

The 3rd XI will wrap up Saturday against high flying Linlithgow at Peffermill for a 12pm start.  Cameroon Moore and Calum Robertson both come into the side for the first time in 2026 and there is a 3rd XI debut for youngster Arjun Shelke

The 1st XI will start a five fixture Sunday against Clydesdale at Titwood in round 2 of the Scottish Cup. There is one change to the side from Saturday as Shiv Jhala replaces Shreyas Tekale. Arun Pillai is the only man remaining from the 2016 side that defeated Clydesdale in the CS Grand Final at Grange Loan.

The Women’s First XI face Stewart’s Melville in a mouth watering WPL fixture after last week’s false start. Annette Aitken-Drummond bolsters the side’s batting lineup, whilst the rest of the side features the usual mix of youth and experience.

On Sunday the Women’s Second XI are on WPL 30 duty against Heriot’s at Newfield’s artificial track.  Amelia Beattie’s side will look to push on from their win vs Stewart’s Melville 2s in round 1 after last weekend’s washout.

The 4th XI will attempt to register their first league win of the season as they welcome Leith FAB 3s to Grange Loan. There’s a Carlton debut for Kieran Allan on the cards and Ollie McCallum will feature for the first time this season.

The 5th XI will head to McKane Park to finish off Sunday’s lineup of fixtures against Dunfermline & Carnegie 3s. The father-son duo of Neil and Ross Kirk will make their first competitive appearances this year alongside a Carlton debut for Abhijeet Shelke, who is also playing with his son Arjun.

Both the Second XI’s and Fourth XI’s fixtures at Grange Loan will be livestreamed on the Carlton CC YouTube Channel.
