The 1st XI travelled to Fife to take on Falkland at Scroggie Park in week 7 of the EPL.  Skipper Arun Pillai won the toss and elected to bat first but things didn’t go to plan as the Arrows slumped to 19 for 5 in the 12th over.  Ru Main (14) & Umair Mohammed (21) steadied things a bit but wickets continued to fall.  The tail wagged to some extent with David Saul (19); Lewis O’Donnell (21); Rory Allardice (19) & Ruaridh McIntyre (21*) helping Carlton to a total of 136.  That score looked well short of par as the home side put on 78 for the first wicket before Saul struck in the 23rd over.  The leggie took 2 more wickets in the 27th over to leave the home side on 99 for 3.  The spinners then turned the screw as Allardice & Pillai took 3 wickets each as well as a run out from Mohammed saw the home side bowled out for 126 in the 40th over to give the Arrows a 10 run win.

The 2nd XI entertained Edinburgh Accies at Grange Loan.  Charles Stronach was again at the helm and lost the toss with the visitors opting to bat first.  There were early wickets for Omar Ahmad and Armaan Bedi to reduce Accies to 15 for 2.  Rudy Adair then came on and picked up 2 wickets and Max D’Ulisse claimed 1 to leave the visitors 63 for 5 in the 20th over.  Accies recovered and it took until the 32nd over for the next wicket to fall as D’Ulisse claimed a 2nd with the score on 112. Stronach then claimed a wicket and there was 1 for Charlie Kentish before the skipper picked up the last 2 wickets to bowl Accies out for 153 in the 45th over.  In reply, Zaki Yusaf fell early but Kentish & Dan Potter rebuilt things before Kentish went for 21 in the 11th over with 46 on the board.  Mo Nauman joined Potter and the pair took the score to 80 before Nauman fell.  There was then a clatter of wickets, including Potter for 39, which left the home side 96 for 8 in the 29th over.  In the end the 2s were bowled out for 121 in the 37th over to record a 32 run loss.

The 3rd XI also travelled over the bridge to take on Dunferlime & Carneigie at McKane Park.  Captain Brad McKay lost the toss and the home side chose to bat first.  The hosts made 217 for 5 from their 40 overs with wickets for Shaun Smith, Jamie Beattie, Vijay Nagarajan, Kyle Burgess & McKay.  In reply the Arrows lost 2 early wickets but Ben Thuman (34) and Euan Keatinge (33) steadied the ship.  Wickets fell regularly however and despite some good lower order resistance from Smith (25); Beattie (21*) and McKay (21) the visitors could only muster 164 as they were bowled out in the 37th over to lose by 53 runs.

The 4th XI travelled to the north of the city to take on RHC 3s at Gyle Park.  Skipper Al Murray lost the toss and the home side chose to bat first.  Dan Mowat struck in the 5th over to leave RHC 20 for 1 but a decent second wicket partnership took the score to 61 before Hamish Foley claimed a wicket.  Abhi Mehta then picked up a wicket just before drinks to leave the home side 83 for 3.  Mehta claimed 3 more wickets and there was one for the off spin of Tom Ritchie to reduce RHC to 121 for 7 in the 29th over.  Ritchie picked up 2 more wickets and then Foley claimed the last to bowl the home side out for 145 in the 36th over.  In reply both openers fell early but a brisk 28 from Chris Sale got the scoreboard moving.  When he fell Joe Griffin and Dougie Scott consolidated but when they tried to accelerate, disaster struck.  Scott called for a rash quick single which saw Griffin run out and Scott crumpled in a heap with a pulled hamstring.  This brought Andrew Lang and Dougie Firth to the crease and they quickly got to terms with the bowling, putting on 82 for the 5th wicket before Firth went for 34.  Lang (29*) and Foley (4*) saw the 4s home in for a 4 wicket win in the penultimate over.

The 5th XI travelled to Newfield Arti to take on Drummond Trinity 5s.  Captain Keith Murray won the toss and inserted the home side.  After 3 overs DTs were 0 for 3 as Stu Dawson (2) & Kartic Subr (1) removed the top order.  A modest recovery was broken as Subr claimed a 2nd wicket to leave the home side 23 for 4 after 8 overs.  A decent 5th wicket stand was broken by Rahul Khadse and just before drinks he claimed another to reduce DTs to 61 for 6.  John Gill & Benji Risi then shared the last 4 wickets as the home side were bowled out for 99 in the 29th over.  The skipper changed up the batting order and although 3 wickets fell relatively early Tom Hathorn (39*) and Risi (20*) saw the 5s home in the 31st over for a 7 wicket win.

On Sunday the Women hosted RHC at Grange Loan in the WPL.  Skipper Sam Haggo won the toss and chose to bat first.  Janie Hemsley fell early but Ciara Gibson and Charis Scott were scoring freely and added 78 for the 2nd wicket before Scott was bowled for 44.  Haggo joined Gibson and the pair together a 135 run partnership, broken when Haggo went for 62 off only 34 balls.  Priyanaz Chatterji didn’t stay long but Zaara Dancu joined Gibson and took the score to 298 for 4 from their 30 overs with Gibson finishing with an unbeaten 120 from 85 balls.  A tight opening spell from Masie Maceira and Chatterji made sure the visitors were always behind the required rate.  It took to the 12th over for the first wicket to fall, claimed by Saskia Aldridge, with 60 on the board.  Carlton remained in control and with 6 overs to go the opening bowlers returned.  Chatterji claimed 1 wicket and Maceira 3 as RHC finished on 148 for 5 from their 30 overs to give the Arrows a win by 150 runs.

The Mixed Development XI were also on duty on Sunday, entertaining Kelso at Peffermill.  Captain Bob Irvine lost the toss and the visitors opted to bat first.  The borderers reached a total of 135 for 8 from their 30 overs with wickets for Osian Hunt (2); Finlay Thompson; Kieran Glass (2); Ajitha Rajan & Tomos Hunt (2).  With the bat the Mixed Dev side came up just short with good contributions from Jake Heller (18); Shreyas Tekale (26) and Tomos Hunt (33) as the Arrows were bowled out for 122 in the final over.
