Weekend preview – 4th/5th July

The 1st XI welcome Stewart’s Melville to Grange Loan in week 10 of the EPL.  The only change to the side that lost out to Arbroath last week is the return of Jamie Beattie who has been studying down south.  He comes in for Conor Regan who has picked up an injury.  The Arrows will be hoping for a repeat of the opening weekend victory over Stew Mel when Chris McBride hit 141* off only 70 balls with skipper Dan Da Costa also chipping in with a quick fire 53.

The 2nd XI are on the road again to take on Penicuik at Kirkhill.  Ferg Foley comes into the line up as a bowling all rounder and Isaac Coates is also back in action this week.  Barry Vosloo & Charlie Kentish will hope to recreate the form with the bat they found down in the borders last week.  They will need to as the Arrows only just sneaked over the line with 1 wicket and 4 balls to spare when they played Penicuik earlier in the season.

The 3rd XI are taking on Edinburgh Uni Staff at Peffermill so this is effectively a home game for both sides.   Felix Lisher is available again after a trip south with Scotland U17s and skipper Brad McKay can call on the services of Dougie Firth who was in the 2s last week.  Hector Murray will be looking to back up his fine performance with the ball against Edinburgh CC 2s last time out.

The final game on Saturday sees the 4th XI travel south to take on Gala 2s at Meigle Park.  The Arrows welcome back Sid Narayanaswamy and Chris Sale who were away last week along with U13 captain Ollie McCallum.  Fellow U13 Aaradhy Khadse keeps his place and there is promotion from the 5s for Rohan Jena.

On Sunday the Women’s 1st XI are back in WPL 40 action at Craiglockhart taking on Watsonians.  Maisie Maceria is back from World Cup duty and there is a welcome return to the sky blue for Ikra Farooq.  Sadly Charis Scott picked up an injury in training during the week so misses out this time.

The Women’s 2s are also on duty on Sunday in a WPL 30 fixture away at Heriot’s where the game will be played on the main square at Goldenacre.  Sarah Beith will lead the side which includes Sarah Law and Elsie Fraser who starred in last week’s Challenger Cup victory over West of Scotland.

The final game of the weekend sees the 5th XI take on Peebles County at Grange Loan.  Keith Murray is still not fully fit so the unrelated Euan Murray will be at the helm again.  Scott Fraser makes a welcome return from injury and there is also a spot for Neil Kirk who hit useful runs midweek.  Ishan Samanta drops down from the 4s and Dan Barry will look to build on his second half century of the season last time out.

The 1st XI’s and 5th XI’s fixtures at Grange Loan will be livestreamed on the Carlton CC YouTube Channel.
