Weekend preview – 23rd/24th August

The 1st XI welcome Edinburgh South to Grange Loan for their last home EPL game, kindly sponsored by the Carton Legends.  The Arrows need to win to keep any hopes of the league title alive and welcome back Angus Guy at the top of the order.  Conor Regan is also back in action, coming in for Jamie Beattie, and James Stronach replaces older brother Ben in the middle order.

The 2nd XI are away at Goldenacre 2 to take on Drummond Trinity.  Pete Gill & Isaac Foley retain their spots after a solid opening stand last week and skipper Charles Stronach has Kyle Macpherson & Ben D’Ulisse back available again.  Pavan Yaradi is also back in the side after missing last week’s defeat to champions Watsonians.

The 4th XI travel to East Lothian to take on second placed Dunbar in ESCA Division 5.  Regular captain Al Murray misses out through injury so David Simpson is at the helm.  He is able to call on a host of young talent including Josh Cully, Aadi Khadse, Raghuram Parasur and John Gill as well as the more mature skills of Andrew Lang.

The final game on Saturday sees the 5th XI play Division 7 leaders Musselburgh 2s at Lewisvale.  Noah Moncur is back in action along with Ian Thompson and Tomos Hunt who played in the 4s last week.  It will be a straight shootout for the 5s bowling prize as the top 5 wicket-takers for the season are all in action with young Aaradhy Khadse just in the lead with 16 wickets for the year.

On Sunday Brad McKay’s 3rd XI host Kirkbrae in a basement battle in ESCA Division 2.  A win for the 3s will see them to safety and condemn the visitors to a bottom 2 finish.  McKay has a strong looking side with Anish Amin in good form after back to back half centuries.  Tom Hathorn & Hamish Foley are back from their Scotland U15 commitments, Euan Keatinge returns to the top order and Dougie Firth drops down from the 2s to open the bowling.

Both the First XI and Third XI fixtures at Grange Loan will be livestreamed on the Carlton CC YouTube Channel.
