Weekend preview – 9th/10th August
The 1st XI take on Grange at Grange Loan in a match kindly sponsored by Angus Mair. It is 2nd playing 3rd in the EPL and a win for the Arrows would keep their title dreams alive. Ally Evans comes back into the side along with Angus Guy in place of Ben Stronach & Harry Simpson who drop to the 2s.
The 2nd XI are away at Loretto to take on Morton in the ESCA Championship. They welcome the 2 players down from the 1s plus Oli Stones is back from his school rugby tour with Max D’Ulisse and Shreyas Tekale the players to miss out with Evans promoted.
The final game on Saturday sees the 4th XI entertain Watsonians 3s at Peffermill. Regular skipper Al Murray is unavailable so David Simpson takes the reins. Anish Amin and Andrew Lang are available again and Abhi Mehta makes a welcome return to the side along with Josh Cully.
On Sunday the highlight is the Women’s 2nd XI playing in the CS Challenger Cup Final at Brechin. Their opponents are either Meigle or Strathmore and Sarah Bieth is able to call on Keira Ansell and former Scottish rugby star Sarah Law. They come into the side for the unavailable Amelia Beattie and Amy Yang.
Also on Sunday the 3rd XI host MDAFs at Grange Loan. Brad McKay is back at the helm and although there are players missing travelling with Scotland age group sides he has a strong looking team with Robbie & Hector Murray safely returned from South Africa as well as Ragurham Parasur back in the side.
The final game of the weekend sees the 5th XI make the short journey to Inch Park to take on Edinburgh South 4s. Regular skipper Keith Murray is available again and will bat at the top with Martin Robertson who was in the runs last week. Kyle Burgess is only available on Sunday so will look to burnish his batting credentials in the 5s as well as another run out for young spin sensation Arjun Shelke.
