Weekend preview – 15th/16th August
The 1st XI travel to the West of the city to take on RHC at Barnton in round 16 of the EPL. There is only one change from the team that lost to league leaders Grange last week with Ferg Foley earning promotion from the 2s after his 5 for 45 last week. He comes in for Rudy Adair who is out injured. The Arrows will be looking to avenge a narrow loss in the fixture at Grange Loan in June. Batting first they were bowled out for 225 with skipper Daniel Da Costa top scoring with 64. In reply they had RHC 183 for 9 but could not find the final wicket and RHC got home with 4.3 overs to spare.
The Women’s 1st XI have a busy weekend kicking of in Stirling with the finals day of the Women’s T20 Cup. They have a semi-final against Watsonians and if they win that then they will take on the winners of Stew Mel or Grampian Thistles. Captain Samantha Evans can call on the experience of Charis Scott, Ikra Farooq and Maisie Maceira as well as youngsters Keira Ansell, Sonia Amin & Agnes Foley.
Back at Grange Loan the 2nd XI welcome Edinburgh CC in the penultimate round of the ESCA Championship. With Ferg Foley promoted to the 1s there is an opportunity for Aadi Khadse after some good performances recently in the 3s. Ben D’Ulisse is not available this week and his spot is taken by Felix Lisher in an otherwise settled looking side.
The 3rd XI are on the road to take on Kelso at Shedden Park. Robbie Murray is available again as are John Gill, Chris Brennan and Finlay Thompson. Charlie Kentish will be looking to keep up his recent good form with the bat having hit back-to-back 80s for the 3s in the last 2 weeks. A win for the 3s would go a long way to helping them stay in Division 2 for another season.
The final game on Saturday sees the 5th XI travel east to Meadowmill to take on TPV 5s. U13 Sam Gilmour comes back in to partner Martin Robertson at the top of the order and there are 5 other U13s in the side all looking to back up their major contributions for the 5s in recent weeks. Stu Dawson comes down from the 4s and the bowling resources have also been bolstered with Benitto Santhosh as the Arrows look to secure their place in Division 7 for next season.
On Sunday the Women’s 1st XI travel north to Huntly to take on Grampian Thistles in the WPL 40. With 3 rounds to go the Arrows remain unbeaten at the top of the table and a win against Grampian, who sit 2nd, would almost certainly see them crowned champions. Maisie Maceira is unavailable but Samantha Evans can still call on the all round skills of Charis Scott & Ikra Farooq as well as the young bowling attack of Kiera Ansell, Agnes Foley & Elsie Fraser.
Also on Sunday the Women’s 2nd XI are away to Prestwick in the WPL 30. Amelia Beattie will be at the helm of a side that is a mix of youth and experience. Mathilda Ellis & Sarah Law are back in the side having made their debut for the 1st XI last week along with Lindsay Thompson and Eve Wilkie. Along with SLaw another former Scotland Rugby International Panashe Muzambe makes her first start for the Arrows in over a month.
The final game of the weekend sees the 4th XI host Morton 3s at Grange Loan. Scott Fraser is set to go again at the top or the order and will look to build on his 49 last time out. Euan & Kyle Burgess come back into the side to play together for the Arrows for only the second time. Taha Khan, Jake Heller and Abhi Mehta will combine again in a strong looking seam attack with young Aaradhy Khadse looking to weave his spells with his leggies.
