Weekend preview – 13th/14th June
The 1st XI entertain RHC at Grange Loan on Saturday. A much changed side sees Fergus Foley available for the first time this season who was called up after Chris McBride’s injury woes continue. Also missing this week is James Stronach who is leading his school side in the finals day of the U18 Schools Cup. Arun Pillai (sponsored by Umair Mohammed Cosmetic & Sports Dentistry) is also away but the Arrows welcome back seamers Conor Regan & Rudy Adair.
The 2nd XI are away at Campbell Park to take on Edinburgh CC. The School’s Cup final has taken out Oli Stones and Charles Stronach while Pete Gill & Stevie Gilmour are away Stateside. Shaun Smith & Pavan Yaradi come in from the 3s while Isaac Coates is set to make his Arrows debut. Zaki Yusaf is back in sky blue for the first time this year along with Hamish Foley who is also set to make his first senior appearance of the year.
The 4th XI are taking on Morton 3s at the main pitch on the Meadows. Skipper Al Murray & Basil Khan will hope to build on their good opening stand from last week while Taha Khan comes back in to bolster the seam attack. Sid Narayanaswamy is also back in the side as the 4s look forward to playing in front of their biggest crowd of the year.
The final game on Saturday sees the 5th XI host TPV 5s at Peffermill. Rahul Khadse is at the helm in the continued absence of regular captain Keith Murray and he is part of no less than 3 father & son combinations for the 5s this week. Martin Robertson is away this week but Vijay Raghavan will be looking to continue his good form with the bat.
On Sunday the Women’s 1st XI are taking on Stew Mel at Merchiston School. Charis Scott (sponsored by Mitchell Glass) is away so not able to repeat her heroics with bat & ball of last week but there is plenty of quality throughout Samantha Evan’s side.
Also on Sunday the Women’s 2nd XI are at Portgower Place to take on Grange in the WPL 30. Amelia Beattie is in charge once more of a side that combines a mixture of youth and experience.
The final game of the weekend sees the 3rd XI host Kelso at Grange Loan. Felix Lisher is set to make his Arrows debut having joined over the winter and skipper Brad McKay is able to call on the services of Cameron Moore behind the stumps. Dougie Firth is also back in what looks a strong seam bowling attack including Hector Murray and young left armer Elliot Peltenburg.
Both the 1st XI’s and 3rd XI’s fixtures at Grange Loan will be livestreamed on the Carlton CC YouTube Channel.
