Sandy Scotland

The club is sad to report the passing of Sandy Scotland.

Although Sandy had only recently joined Carlton as a member he had been a regular visitor to Grange Loan since the mid 80s.  He umpired officially for 37 years and after retiring in 2019 continued to stand in school games and also regularly turned out to umpire Carlton’s lower teams.  He was heavily involved with organising umpiring across Scotland for 15 years, and in ESCA before that, making a huge contribution to the game north of the border.

As a Chartered Accountant he was also generous with his professional time, offering his services as an honorary auditor for Carlton and ESCA for many years.

Many players and spectators will have memories of chatting with Sandy over a drink at the end of a match.  He loved his cricket but his interests extended well beyond that.  He will be sorely missed.

RIP Sandy.
