Return to cricket

With the Government continuing to ease restrictions we can now take some firm steps towards getting back to cricket.  We appreciate this has been a frustrating time for members and we’ve been working hard to open things up as quickly and safely as possible.  Our overarching principle has been to create a structure which offers as much cricket as we can to as many of our members as possible, while operating within Government and Cricket Scotland guidelines.

From Monday 29th June members will be able to use the nets at either “Club” sessions which will be facilitated by a member of the coaching team or “Open” sessions where a volunteer will ensure the social distancing guidelines are followed. There are also times set aside for family Kwik Cricket at weekends.

Full details of plans can be downloaded here and members must read these before attending any sessions.  We would highlight the following:

  • All sessions must be booked in advance.
  • Nets are only open if a COVID Facilitator is present.
  • Social distancing must be maintained at all times.
  • Sessions are only open to members who have paid this year’s subscription. No guests are allowed.
  • Wash hands at home before and after using the outdoor facilities. Bring your own hand sanitiser where possible.
  • You must bring and only use your own ball.
  • Unfortunately, no toilet facilities will be available.

At the moment we are limiting advance booking to one “Club” session and one “Open” session per week to try to ensure as many people as possible can use the facilities.  Players may book additional practice sessions on the day if spaces are available. This, along with all the other rules, will be reviewed once we see how this process operates in practice and the guidance from the Government and Cricket Scotland evolves.

In addition to the basic membership fee of £45 for 2020, the Club intends to make an additional one-off charge for all members who participate in cricket activities for the remainder of the summer to cover costs.  This will be determined once it becomes clear what games, if any, can be scheduled.  We’re aiming to keep this charge to a minimum but, combined with what members have already paid, it will be less than 50% of the normal subscription.
