Weekend preview – 10th/11th May

This coming weekend is another big one for the Arrows as it includes our first round Scottish Cup tie against Stenhousemuir.
On Saturday the 1st XI will head across town to Barnton where they will take on RH Corstorphine for a 12pm start. The side features two changes from last weekend with Shiv Jhala making his debut and Michael Raikes returning to first team action for the first time since 2015. Arun Pillai hit his highest score of 124 in this fixture last season.
The 2nd XI are looking to register their first win in the ESCA Championship as they host Edinburgh Accies at Grange Loan. Saqib Ali is set to make his debut and Stevie Gilmour and Matthew Wells come in to bolster the top order. Oli Stones is also available for selection having recovered from his dislocated finger which he sustained against Heriot’s 2s in the field.
The 3rd XI will meet Dunfermline and Carnegie at McKane Park on Saturday. New man Parasur Raghuram comes straight into the 3s for his Carlton debut. Vijay Raghavan and Lewis Broster will also make their debut for the side as well as Abbi Aitken-Drummond returning for the first time since 2017.
The 4th XI are on the road away to Gala 2s for a 1pm start. The borders won the only completed fixture between the two sides last year, chasing down the 4s total of 166 at Grange Loan.
On Sunday the 1s get their Scottish Cup campaign underway against Stenhousemuir at The Tryst, with the first ball being bowled at 12pm. Saqib Ali is set to become cap number 495. This will be the first meeting of the sides since 2006, more history of fixtures between the two sides can be found in the latest edition of the Arrow.
The 5th XI will finish the weekend off as they welcome Holy Cross 2s to Grange Loan. 3 players will make their senior debuts for the club including the father-son combination of Johann and Reuben Van Der Merwe as well as junior keeper Elliot Bagger.
