Weekend preview – 3rd/4th May

This weekend both the Eastern Premier League and Women’s Premier League start back up for 2025.
On Saturday new skipper Daniel Da Costa will lead the 1st XI out against Falkland at Grange Loan for a 12pm start. Recent recruits Angus Guy and Olly Davidson will make their debuts for Carlton alongside a first 1st XI cap for seamer Conor Regan. Both games against the Fifers in 2024 resulted in low scores being chased successfully by the Arrows. Saturday’s match is sponsored by the Carlton Legends.
The 2nd XI head north to take on Dunnikier on Saturday as they look to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Heriot’s 2s. Samantha Haggo, Aadi Khadse, Hector Murray and Maisie Maceira are all in line to make their 2nd team debuts.
The 3rd XI will meet Drummond Trinity 2s at Inverleith Park on Saturday. Charis Scott, Atreya Subr, Jake Heller and John Carpenter all come into the side to make their 3s debut. In last year’s ESCA Division 2 campaign the spoils were shared between the sides as both teams picked up one win over the other.
On Sunday Samantha Evans’ Women’s 1st XI welcome West of Scotland to Grange Loan for a 1pm start. Last year’s WPL meeting at Hamilton Crescent was won comfortably by the Arrows, with Charis Scott contributing 69 with the bat and Abbi Aitken-Drummond taking her maiden Carlton 5fer. Charis goes into the 2025 season as Carlton Women’s all time top run scorer and is 77 runs away from reaching 1000 runs.
The 4th XI look to continue their winning form away at Kirkhill against Penicuik 2s with the first ball being bowled at 1pm. Vijay Raghavan and Josh Cully come into the game off the back of half-centuries last weekend for the 4s and 5s respectively.
The 5th XI will finish the weekend off away at Inverleith Arti against Stewart’s Melville 4s. Daniel Smith, Elliot Peltenburg and Archie Smart are set to make their senior debuts on Sunday.
Both the First XI’s and Women’s First XI’s fixtures at Grange Loan will be livestreamed on the Carlton CC YouTube Channel.
