U12s in action
The U12s had a busy weekend with two games on Friday against Livingston at GL and Stewart’s Melville at a chilly Inverleith. The team at Grange Loan beat their East Lothian opponents quite comfortably. The game at Inverleith was a much closer affair.
Carlton amassed 82 in their 20 overs, a defendable total with the long outfield, but by no means an unassailable one. The Stew-Mel reply got off to a good start, but wickets by youngsters Kieran Glass, Lewis Broster and Ruaidhri Vick pegged the home side back, leaving them requiring 13 off the last over. A fine c&b by Robbie Murray secured the win, with Stew-Mel finishing on 73. A good close game played in excellent spirit as ever.
On Sunday morning, a young Carlton U12 team also played Peebles at GL. They restricted the visitors to 81 for 9 and won relatively comfortably with 130 for 8. The pick of the bowlers were Hamish Turner and Tom Hathorn, who both picked up 3 wickets. Ruaidhri Vick and Aadi Khadse were the highest scoring batters. It was great to host our friends from the Borders again. We look forward to the return match.
