StewMel too strong for Eagles
Carlton U14s opened their account for the season against a strong Stew Mel team at a sunny Grange Loan on Monday 29th April.
Against some strong bowling, Rory, Gabby and Isaac all hung around, accumulating runs to the short boundaries. When Isaac retired, Jamie was able to advance the score with some powerful shots before being bowled for 24. The lower order of Robert, Zara and Jack all contributed to the team’s competitive total of 120. Special mention to Jack who hit his first ever six!
In reply, the Stew Mel batters got off to a fast start making life tough for the Carlton bowlers. All the bowlers bowled well in parts but any loose balls were capitalised on by some clinical batting. Thomas and Innes both did well to pick up wickets. In the end the visitors chased down the total fairly comfortably however there were still plenty of positives for the Carlton team to take out of the game.
