Weekend preview – 14th/15th June

There are another 6 league games this weekend and hopefully the rain will stay away.

On Saturday the 1st XI entertain Arbroath at Grange Loan in a dress rehearsal for the Scottish Cup quarter final in a weeks time.  The Angus side are 4th in the table, 2 places below the Arrows, having only lost once in the 5 games they’ve completed.  Shiv Jhala will be looking to build on his good performance with the ball last week and the side welcomes back Conor Regan and Rory Allardice in place of Ben D’Ulisse & Oli Stones.

The 2nd XI make the short journey across Morningside Road to take on Watsonians at Myreside.  Harry Simpson is back in the side along with Oli Stones & Saqib Ali as they face the tough task of stopping Watsonians who are unbeaten this season and coming into this game having scored 501 for 3 last week away at Boghall.

The 3rd XI are at “home” at Peffermill for the visit of Edinburgh CC 2s.  The visitors are just 2 places above the 3s in the table and Anish Amin comes back in to add some much needed experience to the side.  The only other players not in full time education are Samantha Evans and skipper Brad McKay.

The final game on Saturday sees the 4th XI welcome Morton 3s to the Meadows in ESCA Division 5.  The visitors are 3rd equal in the league and are well used to conditions on the Meadows so this will be a stern test for the 4s.  They welcome Robbie Murray into their ranks along with David Simpson & Ollie McCallum who were big contributors to the 5s win last Sunday.

On Sunday the Women are at Grange Loan with MDAFs the visitors.  The Women will be looking to build on the comprehensive defeat of Grange last week against a side that has only won one game this season.  The side has a familiar look to it with Sonia Amin & Ashley Robertson coming in for Janie Hemsley & Saskia Aldridge.

Both the 1st XI and Women’s 1st XI fixtures at Grange Loan will be livestreamed on the Carlton CC YouTube Channel.
