Weekend preview – 7th/8th June

It’s the first full weekend of cricket in June and we’ve got another full helping of league fixtures coming up.
On Saturday the 1st XI head across town to Portgower Place to take on Grange in the EPL. The Stags currently sit 1 place below the Arrows in 3rd place. Ben D’Ulisse features for the top time for the first time since our Scottish Cup tie vs Stenhousemuir, and Shiv Jhala is also back from his holiday.
The 2nd XI host bottom of the league Morton at Grange Loan for a 1pm start. Morton got the better of the Arrows in both of their ESCA Championship meetings back in 2023. Dougie Firth will return to the 2s side, having bowled impressively against Heriot’s 2s in the first game of the season.
The 3rd XI take on MDAFs away at Roseburn on the main square. Isaac Foley and Euan Keatinge are both back from university and available for selection for the first time this season.
The 4th XI are on duty away at Craiglockhart as they face off against Watsonians 3s. Benji Risi comes into the side after producing a pivotal half-century in the 5s win last weekend.
On Sunday the Women’s First XI are also taking on Grange at Portgower Place. The Stags are 7th in the WPL, 4 places below the Arrows as things stand. Emily Rose and Flora Corbin are set to return to the side.
The 5th XI round off the weekend as they welcome Edinburgh South 4s to Grange Loan on Sunday. Ollie McCallum is on course to make his senior debut, whilst David Simpson returns to the side for the first time since 2021.
Both the Second XI’s and Fifth XI’s fixtures at Grange Loan will be livestreamed on the Carlton CC YouTube Channel.
