Weekend preview – 17th/18th May

The Arrows are back in action this weekend with six league games across Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday the 1st XI are looking to bounce back after last week’s defeat to RHC.  The side welcomes Forfarshire to Grange Loan for a 12pm start.  Shiv Jhala retains his spot in the XI, whilst Oli Stones is set to make his EPL debut off the back of his debut in the Scottish Cup last Sunday.  Jamie Beattie is also available for selection.  The match is sponsored by the Carlton Legends.

The 2nd XI are hoping to maintain their momentum with a trip away to Gala.  Will Hardie and Harry Simpson feature for the first time this season, alongside Ben D’Ulisse and Conor Regan bolstering the 2s.  The last time Simpson ventured to Meigle Park he returned figures of 5-2-3-5 to bowl the borderers out for 72.

The 3rd XI will host top of the league Clackmannan County at Peffermill on Saturday.  Pavan Yaradi is set to make his 3s debut, with Max D’Ulisse also providing resources with the ball.

The 5th XI round off Saturday with a trip to the Arns to take on bottom of the league Clackmannan County 2s.  Raj Prabhu makes his 5th XI debut alongside the returning Daniel Mowat.  Elliot Peltenburg is making his second senior appearance for the club off the back of his 3 wicket haul two weeks ago.  In this fixture 2 years ago, the match ended a tie with Josh Cully’s 36* earning the 5s 15 points.

On Sunday the Women’s First XI return to WPL action after their break week.  They entertain unbeaten East Kilbride at 1pm at Grange Loan.  Gabriella Fontenla, Saskia Aldridge, Sonia Amin and Janie Hemsley all feature for the first time this season.  Last season the Arrows won a hard fought battle at Torrance House with Charis Scott taking 4 wickets to bowl East Kilbride out for 96.

The 4th XI will close out the weekend with a home fixture at Boghall against Linlithgow 2s.  Harry Charman and Hamish Turner both return to league action for the first time in 2025 and the 4s are also strengthened with the additions of Vijay Raghavan, Raghuram Parasur and David Simpson.

Both the First XI’s and Women’s First XI’s fixtures at Grange Loan will be livestreamed on the Carlton CC YouTube Channel.
