Stewarts Melville 117 for 6

beat

Carlton B 56 for 2

Good bowling especially early on from James Stronach who had 9 for 2 from 3 overs. Everyone bowled and fielded pretty well.  This was encouraging given 5 players were playing their first primary school hard ball game. Stew Mel P7 were stronger and despite us having them 27 for 5  - with wickets from Ben and Manu as well as James -  SM hit out well in the later overs to make 117.  A good run out from Ben Stronach was also made.

Batting was harder but everyone did well to defend the good ball but despite some very good batting particularly from Ben (16 retired) and Max (9 retired) we did not have the fire power as the team was P4 to P6.  A very encouraging game and plenty of future stars in the team.  Well done and keep practising.

Cargilfield 100 all out

tied with

Carlton 100 for 7 (Ally 31*)

A young team today with a few playing their first primary school match.  Some great bowling today with 10 players bowling some overs and Cargilfield were restricted to 100 all out.  Best of the bowlers were Rory 2 for 5, Caitlin 2 for 5 and Charlie 2 for 11.

Batting was impressive chasing 5 an over with such a young team.  Jamie and Max started well before Max was stumped. Jamie went on to make 12 before being bowled.  Good contributions from most with Charlie C scoring 11 and Manu 8 but the player of the match was Ally who scored 31 not out and together with Jack Cran managed to run 4 off the last ball with some over throws to tie the match.

You should all be pleased with an historic tie - not that many happen.  Keep up the practice and lets see how we can progress on our return match against Stew Mel.

Carlton 75 for 4 (Rudy 19*)

beat

George Watson's 65 for 4 (Rudy 2 for 2)

Carlton batted first. Rudy and Callum opened. Callum score a few runs before losing his wicket. Rudy and Ally then put on a big partnership, each of them running hard and well as hitting a couple of boundaries. When Ally was run out for 14 at the end of the 12th over Rudy also retired not out on 19.

Max and Ben Stronach pushed the score on until Max was bowled. Ben was then joined by younger brother James and the two of them built a partnership until Ben was bowled for 6. Manu joined James and the two finished the innings with James smashing a couple of boundaries to outscore his elder brother. He got 12 not out so well done. Carlton scored 75 for 4.

The bowling was impressive. Ally, today's captain, used his bowlers intelligently. Rudy picked up a wicket in his first over. Manu took a wicket with his first ball. Max almost took a spectacular catch at point but Ally bowled the batsman the following ball. Everyone bowled. Rudy took a wicket in his second over and Watson's never seemed to be quite up with the rate. Despite hitting 9 off the final over. Watson's made 65 for 4 to fall 10 short.
