SMRH Kwik Cricket Tournament

After what seemed an eternity since the West Lothian CCC festival (before the Flood, on 24 June), the U-10 Kwik cricket team finally got back into action at the SMRH Festival. We had a successful day, managing to fight through the rain to complete all three group matches, although the play-off round had to be abandoned. We lost to a strong host team in the first game, which was interrupted by rain several times and left everyone soaked to the skin. (We’ve come up against SMRH four times this season and honours are now even.) But we recovered well to win against both Livingston and Haddington. There were good performances from everyone, with the running between the wickets in particular a lot better than before. The individual highlights of the day were Benjamin’s line and length, a thrilling six by Duncan (who’d obviously been watching KP the day before) and a maiden by Billy.

Special thanks to coaches Mike and Craig who stepped in at the last moment to ensure that we were able to take part. No fewer than seven parents have helped out at different festivals this year so far and volunteers are always welcome.
