Euan reports ...
For the first time this season, the Pumas got to enjoy some sunny weather which put us all in a good mood. Our warm-up consisted of a football kick about and some bowling and catching practice. Harry went to the opposing captain for the toss and won and decided that the Pumas would field first.
The first over was well bowled by Pete, conceding just 6 runs. The second over was bowled well by Joy with Grange not scoring too many runs off him. The first wicket came from Pete, the second from Joy with the score on 22 runs. Following on from their opening, Harry took over from one end with Euan from the other. Euan got close to taking some wickets in his opening overs, achieving a wicket maiden in his third over. In the last four overs Grange were scoring some valuable runs finishing with a total of 116/4. Special mention to Duncan who volunteered as keeper and did very well indeed.
When the Pumas came to bat Euan and Pete opened with them both scoring steadily and by the 8th over had run up a respectable total of 57. Pete retired at 30*in the 8.2 over to be replaced by Harry who joined Euan in the run chase. Euan managed to get 21 runs before being caught lbw by Ali. After that, Grange’s total seemed to get further out of reach although it was good to see our new players, Leo and Ross, who brought a good spirit to the team. When Harry and Duncan got run out by some respectable throws the target started to crumble beneath our fingers. Well played to the rest of the team who, along with Pete who came out of retirement to score 44*, managed a total of 108, just 8 runs behind. Well played all!
