The Edinburgh South/Carlton team this week was in fact a Carlton-only team with our partners taking a break. Despite their inexperience - until the start of this season 7 of the 8 had played no hardball, and the 8th had played only one match - the team put in a very good performance to maintain our winning record.
Carlton skipper (Rua Mc) won the toss and elected to field. Carlton were off to a great start with Cameron bowling some really tight overs and Shaun taking two wickets to put the home side on the back foot. Ruari S and Saachin kept the pressure on, only going for 9 runs in their four overs. Dylan and Steven turned the screws on again taking 2 wickets in their spell and for a total of -3 runs. Ewan, Shaun and Cameron bowled some really tight overs at the end leaving the home side on a total of 114. Rua Mc took a great catch behind the stumps off Shaun's bowling.
The boys batted very responsibly not losing a single wicket throughout their innings, stringing together partnerships all along the way. With some fantastic stroke play from Steven, Saachin, Ewan and Rua Mc dispatching balls to the boundary, Carlton ended on a grand total of 183 beating Livingston by 69 runs.
Well done to all the team on a great effort. Many thanks to Bruce for managing and coaching the team for the night.
