Grange batted first reaching 77 of their 20 overs. All of Carlton's players bowled, with a good introduction to U13 cricket for the debutants. The wicket takers were Gregor Farrer, 1-5, Alastair McWhirter, 1-6, and Scott Peggie, 1-6 with the overall fielding being excellent with 4 runouts, 3 being direct hits.

In response, Carlton reached their target of 78, with 2 overs to spare. The main contributions came from Murray Whitaker 30* and Ben D'Ulisse 15. 

Congratulations to all the Carlton players who made their u13 debuts and we look forward to their progress and contribution throughout the season.

On a chilly evening at Raeburn Place, Grange batted first and put up a respectable total of 123/4 off their 20 overs.  Carlton used 10 bowlers, each bowling 2 overs. Douglas bowled well for 1/5, Murray with one maiden over finished 0/4, Saachin 1/11 and Aryan 1/33.  Ben also took a smart catch at the wicket.

In reply, Carlton’s opening batsmen reached the 10th over on 35 without loss. However, Murray was then bowled for 13 runs by the Stags’ leading bowler (who finished with figures of 4/7) although Harry carried on to an excellent score of 36 when he retired. At this point, runs were hard to come by although Pete showed good style for 10. The Carlton boys showed good team spirit but the Grange total proved too steep and they ran out worthy winners on this occasion.

Batting first, the opening pair of Murray and Harry got Carlton off  to a great start, Murray  retiring on 31 and Harry retiring on 21. Douglas

batted very well also, running like lightning between the wickets. He played some good offside shots before being runout towards the end

for 16. Benji batted for a while at the end of the innings showing good defence for 10 runs.

Bowling wise Carlton used 7 bowlers. Scott and Zack both bowled well at the start completing 4 overs each with Scott claiming 2 wickets.

The others used were Euan who also bowled well for 2 wickets, Gregor bowled tidily for his 3 overs and Angus got a wicket and bowled

straight for his 3 overs.

Well led by captain Murray, the team fielded admirably, with commendable enthusiasm and encouragement for each other.  Great effort boys!
