Oliver Brown 32 ret, Gavin Rittoo 20 not out |
Our second match of the season took place against Murrayfield DAFS.
The side was captained by Rory Allardice, who promptly won the toss and decided to bat. We made steady progress with a fine knock of 32 from Oliver Brown, which made him the first Carlton B batsman to retire on a maximum. Gavin Rittoo chipped in with 20 not out to give us a great score of 111 for 4 from our 20 Overs.
Our bowling proved to be a liittle too strong for a young Murrayfield DAFS side, who were on 50 for 9 at the end of their 20 overs. The best of the bowling came from David Mitchell, who at one point was on a hatrick and finished with figures of 2-6, Oliver Fenton with 2-5 and Rory Allardice with 2-12.
So we ended the match with our first win of the season and looking forward to our next match with Grange next week.

The third match for the Carlton Under 13 B side saw us take on local rivals Grange B. Due to ground restrictions we played in the Meadows. Our captain for the evening was Oliver Fenton.
After winning the toss Grange decided to bat and progressed steadily. While our bowling was fairly steady we conceded too many wides and after their 20 overs Grange were 80 for 4. Nearly half of these were extras!
In reply we batted well but were always behind the required rate. Oliver Fenton batted through the innings and ended on 25 not out but we ended up just 2 runs short on 78 for 4 after our 20 overs. This was however another good performance from what is a very young Under 13 side. |
