Dougal Main 44*, Tom Simpson 43, Calum Everett 30, Sam Marchbank 17*

Batting first, Carlton scored 143-3 with Dougal Main posting a powerful clean hitting 44no. Tom Simpson’s 43 was peppered with good shots, while Calum Everett hit a more sedate 30, showing excellent defence and shot selection against the opposition’s best bowling of the night. A sprightly 17 not out from Sam Marchbank at the end ensured a competitive total.

Callum Sibley played the senior bowler role and responded well, taking 1 for 12 from his 4 overs, earning his wicket with a fine delivery that the batsman edged to Tom, standing quite a way back. The youngsters did the rest of the bowling and impressed their coach with continuing signs of good development. The fielding was good, with excellent backing up, and Sam enjoyed his stint as sweeper, launching some big throws from the boundary! Calum Everett also excelled with a good direct hit for a runout from cover.
