  140 all out away 141 for 4
Winning the toss, skipper Hilton decided to bowl. Openers Carter and Hoefling kept things very tight early on but with the score on 2-13 after 14 overs things changed. Some clean hitting from Pirani (87) got the scoreboard ticking over at a decent rate and, with none of the other batters making double figures, his was the key wicket. The introduction of Akeel into the attack slowed things down and a great running catch on the boundary from Mike Kennedy got rid of the danger man. The last two wickets fell quickly to leave Edinburgh South all out on 140. No joy for DC but he went for only 6 for his 9 overs. Akeel returned 4-18; 2 apiece for Hilton and Hoefling and 1 for Banks. The other wicket a direct hit from Akeel. The reply started with a solid opening stand from Bhopal & Welsh. Charlie (24) was trapped in front in the 20th with the score on 62. Vijay (34) was run out 5 overs later. Nick Martin & Akeel saw off the best of the bowling before Akeel (22) was caught trying to up the rate. The required acceleration was supplied by Kennedy (13) & Hilton (22*) with young Martin (9*) providing valuable support to take the 3s over the line with 4.2 overs to spare.

After a late start to allow the pitch to dry out, Carlton start poorly, but a recovery based on the solidity of Ian Thompson and first Nick Martin then Tom Barrett build a platform for James Hilton to blast some runs at the end of the first innings. Tom Barrett takes 4 wickets, James Hilton 3 as another Carlton victory keeps them top of Division 6 with full marks so far.

  101 all out away 105 for 5
Another trip over the Forth Road Bridge road-block for the thirds, this time to Dalgety Bay's artificial strip, but the surface has no effect on Dave Carter, bowling his 9 overs for 10 runs, three of which were wides. Two wickets for James Blackmur and Chris Hoefling before James Hilton bags three late wickets to skittle the Fifers. Ian Thompson's composed, unbeaten 35 sets the foundation, before Mike Kennedy and James Blackmur blast their way to the finish-line and another win for the undefeated thirds.

Top-of-the-table clash between the only ESCA sides with an undefeated record leaves Carlton top-dogs in Division 6, runs from Tom Barrett and Akeel Aslam the foundation of a decent score in the conditions, but its the bowling, with 3 wickets from Omer Ahmad and 3 from Ally Evans that blasts Peebles resistance.

Rained off, leaving the Thirds with the herculean task of earning a point in the final match against Old Contemptibles to win the league. No doubt they''ll be going for the win, however, to maintain their unbeaten record (the only side in Scottish cricket to win every match they''ve played in 2007).

Short of a number of regulars, non-playing (usually) captain Alan Murray dons the whites for the first time in League-anger - so far this season he''s magnanimously left James Hilton-Robinson in charge of his talented team, happy to organise and cajole from the sidelines. However, despite the change in personnel and the presence of some of Carltons youngsters, normal service is resumed. 4 wickets for Chris Hoefling, 3 for President Carter, even the skipper's first spell of the year takes 2 wickets. A solid start from Ian Thompson and Chris Hoefling in the second innings sets the platform for Akeel Aslam and Nathan Pietsch , both unbeaten with 45 and 42 respectively as they cruise to the Division 6 title and (we think) the only 100% record in league cricket in Scotland this year. A fantastic achievement for a combination of talented kids and some older, wiser heads. Roll on Division 5 next year.
